Boats: - began as an investigation in a - for me - new material: Ceramics. I made a comparison of a form made in different techniques in glass and ceramics. It was interesting to study the qualities the different materials added to the form. The transparent and the mat, the empty and the solid, the earthenware low glaze temperature, the porcelain high glaze temperature. I chose the form because I wanted to make a product in glass that by the first look only could be still blown but actually was turn blown.

It therefore includes the qualities a turn blown glass piece contains. By blowing a “disk shape” and cutting it through the middle to boats would appear. The result of the project was a one-off piece consisting of a mould blown and a sand-cast glass boat and the piece is called Empty and Full.
